I love everything that looks cosmic. Now I often use body painting and Digital Art. I photograph my models turning them into cosmic creatures. I am inspired by music genres: AMBIENT, IDM, TECHNO, AFRICAN RHYTHMS. In my opinion all the most beautiful and really valuable things are right before our eyes from the very childhood, and probably for this reason we stop to notice it when we grow up. Seeing the splendor in things that other people call dull or even unpleasant is a very controversial gift, but at the same time wonderful. “Navigation Unknown” offers a dynamic observation of the passerby by focusing on the encounters of individuals converging in spaces of transience. The exhibition is twofold, featuring micro and macro perspectives. Dynamic narrative scenes are paired with stripped down portraits of individual passengers. Each piece employs the viewer’s own projection onto the subjects, allowing an emotive recognition to exude from the figures. I think it’s a really vulnerable state to be in when you’re neither here nor there, so to speak. People in transit are unrooted… We are in a constant flux going from point A to point B. I’m interested in the area between those two points.

Come & see things differently with me.
‚A new social type was being created by the apartment building, a cool, unemotional personality impervious to the psychological pressures of high-rise life, with minimal needs for privacy, who thrived like an advanced species of machine in the neutral atmosphere.‘ J.G. Ballard, High-Rise , 1975 A Future City From The Past Ballard’s novel paints a dark dystopian picture — the architecture of a single residential tower becomes the driving force for mysterious changes of the tenants behaviour. Can the presence of a high-rise structure truly create such a threatening atmosphere and social tension, culminating in murder, decay, destruction and even anarchy? The series, “A Future City From The Past” is based on this mystifying vision of a radically aggressive urban dystopia — an uncompromising design in the brutalist dogma. All buildings and structures are homogenic. The differentiations of architectural styles and eras are eliminated and replaced by geometric structures, repetition and absolute materiality. Growing up in Richmond (back when it was dangerous) and being terrible at sport, Guy taught himself to draw in the back of his books. He littered the pages with the depths of his imagination, hoping one day his talents would not only find fame and fortune but also attract tonnes of women. Probably for the better, neither truly prevailed, but what did evolve was an undying love for image-making and a career in publishing and illustration. Guy works foremost in pen and ink, producing scenes akin to movies without sound or motion. He carefully crafts frames that provoke intrigue and familiarity, through formal compositions and engaging colour palettes. Put simply, Guy’s passion is scenic storytelling » Guy Shield Website » Guy Shield Facebook Fanpage » Guy Shield Instagram » Guy […]
I draw on the subway on my iPad. App=Procreate. No requests please.
