International music agency MassiveMusic has teamed up with War Child, In Case of Fire, Sony and Universal to create a timely and powerful new film that highlights the plight of young refugees. A young refugee boy strikes up an unlikely friendship with Batman in this charming film that also packs a pertinent punch. Set to Queen’s feel-good track, ‘You’re My Best Friend’, it follows the inseparable duo as they transform the refugee camp into their playground – playing football, arm-wrestling, and hide-and-seek. The heart-warming mood takes a surprising twist as the masked crusader is revealed to have been the boy’s father all along, and a result of the fantasy world constructed by the child as a coping mechanism to escape the grim reality of his life.

Black Mirror Season 4 // Arkangel Teaser Trailer

Netflix teasert mit dem Arkangel Trailer (Jodie Foster führte hierbei Regie) die vierte Staffel von Black Mirror an. Und wie zu erwarten, sehen die Dystopien wieder einmal ziemlich düster aus. Leider ist aktuell noch nichts genaues zum Release-Termin der Staffel bekannt, allerdings kann man von Anfang 2018 ausgehen. „The key to good parenting is control.“ Ein weiterer Teaser Trailer, der seit ein paar Wochen online ist zeigt einen weiteren, kleinen Einblick in alle 6 Folgen der neuen Staffel: Mehr dazu außerdem bei Metro News und Mirror Online.

Neill Blomkamp sollte inzwischen ja bekannt sein für seine SciFi Kurzfilme. Auch sein erster Blockbuster „District 9“ basiert ursprünglich auf seinem Kurzfilm „Alive in Joburg„. In den letzten Monaten hat er zusammen mit Oats Studios drei neue, experimentielle Science Fiction Kurzfilme unter der Reihe „Volume One“ veröffentlicht. „Mother’s Day“ ist ein Kurzfilm von Elizabeth Lo über einen jährlichen Bus Service, der es Kindern ermöglicht ihre Mütter im Gefängnis zu besuchen. Die Dokumentation zeigt Masseninhaftierungen und deren Folgen auf eine gesamte Generation. Die Dokumentation Nothing to Hide (2016) beleuchtet die zunehmende gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz von staatlicher und kommerzieller Überwachung. Der Film von Marc Meillassoux und Mihaela Gladovic wurde über Kickstarter finanziert und ist inzwischen über Vimeo oder Bittorrent frei verfügbar.
